ROTARY CLUB OF KANATA • END POLIO NOW
Pints for Polio: $900 Towards a World Without Polio
A little seed money, a lively game of bingo and a room full of generous people helped the Rotary Club of Kanata raise $900 for End Polio Now at our Pints for Polio evening on 22 October.

Held at Ridge Rock Brewing Company in Carp, the event brought together familiar faces and new friends for an evening of fellowship, local history and fundraising. We were delighted to welcome Rotarians from other clubs, friends and families of members, and around half of the ROK crew, all coming together to support a cause that connects Rotary clubs around the world.

From $20 to a Table Full of Bingo Cards
District Governor Barbara Fisk’s $20 in seed money helped get the fundraising started. We used it to purchase a bingo game for the club, which quickly became a highlight of the evening and generated a substantial share of the funds raised.
Bingo brought some friendly competition to the evening, with proceeds split 50/50: half supported our End Polio Now fundraiser, while the other half became the cash grand prize.
The second prize was an End Polio themed gift basket, packed with Ridge Rock ale and a selection of red themed treats and snacks.
Our bingo winner had luck firmly on their side. They won both prizes, taking home the cash and the basket!

A Taste of Carp’s History
Ridge Rock’s master brewer gave us a look behind the scenes at the brewery’s distinctive brewing process, alongside stories about its historic home in Carp. The building’s colourful past, including a famed bank robbery, gave us plenty to talk about as we explored the brewery.
Our thanks to the Ridge Rock team for welcoming us and making the evening such an enjoyable experience.

Why Pints for Polio?
Pints for Polio turns a simple social gathering into support for Rotary’s longstanding commitment to ending polio. It creates an opportunity to introduce friends and neighbours to the cause while raising funds for the work still needed to protect children.
Polio can cause lifelong paralysis, and it primarily affects young children. Global eradication efforts have reduced polio cases by more than 99.9% since 1988, but the work is not finished. Continued vaccination, disease surveillance and support for frontline health workers remain essential to reaching a world without polio.
$900 Raised. Three Times the Impact.
Through the Gates Foundation’s two for one match of Rotary’s polio contributions, our $900 becomes $2,700 in combined support for polio eradication.
Thank you to everyone who attended, played bingo, donated and helped make it such a fun evening!
